Individual Counseling

You deserve to feel heard and understood in a safe space without judgment.
You may not have people in your life who listen when you share how you’re feeling, or aren’t sure how to help. You may not have the skills to cope with the challenges you’re facing in your day to day life.
Counseling can provide you with a safe space where you can share without judgment, where you can learn new skills to manage these challenges, and where you can explore who you are in this moment and who you want to be. You’ll learn to be kind to yourself, and how to sit with and navigate your thoughts and feelings so that you can grow and evolve.
How Individual Therapy Works
The first step is to schedule a free consultation where we can determine if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about what prompted you to seek therapy and about what you hope to achieve in therapy.
During our first session, we’ll explore in more detail your journey to therapy. I will do a lot of listening to give you space to share your story.
In our second session, together we’ll create a plan of what you want to achieve during our time together. We’ll discuss some of the roadblocks you may face and strategies to overcome them.
In our subsequent sessions, we will continue to work on the goals you created at the beginning of therapy. If new problems arise, we will hold space for those problems, too. We will check in on your goals and make adjustments as necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
+ Will counseling really help me?
Counseling is an excellent tool to help a person explore, heal, and grow. Counseling is for everyone! People of all ages, and all circumstances have found counseling to be a great help. It is helpful to work with a counselor that is trained and experienced in working with the type of concerns that are bringing you to therapy.
+ What is virtual therapy like?
Virtual therapy takes place over the computer, tablet, smart phone, or other electronic device. This means you can participate in therapy wherever you are, whether that is home, the office, or other places that life takes you. All that is required is a good internet connection and some privacy. You also need to be in the state of Texas while the session is taking place.
+ How long will it take to feel better?
This depends on the circumstances. Some people attend therapy for a short period of time. Others find therapy helpful on a longer term basis. Your therapist will make a plan with you, based on your specific needs and the issues you are ready to work on. Many people find some benefits right away as they learn some skills to manage their symptoms, and continue to grow throughout the course of treatment.
+ How much does therapy cost?
Individual Counseling sessions are provided at a rate of $165/hour. Tasha Lawson Therapy does not accept insurance at this time. HSA cards may be used.
